FAQs
How is Jolt different from Cursor, Copilot, and others?
Jolt excels at understanding large codebases. It accurately identifies relevant context files across millions of lines of code. If you're tired of manually selecting context or want higher-quality responses from AI, Jolt is for you.
Some teams use Jolt alongside Cursor or Copilot, using those other tools solely for auto-complete while using Jolt for broader code changes, multi-file changes, code chat, and code understanding.
Jolt is available for all IDEs and on the web. Jolt brings your entire team together onto a single platform they can use across the SDLC.
Why is Jolt more expensive than other AI coding tools?
Jolt is purpose-built for large codebases. We developed a proprietary search engine, "HyperContext," to automatically identify context files related to your prompt. The search is compute-intensive and requires significant cloud resources.
Jolt's price is all-inclusive. Other tools have additional usage-based costs that can exceed Jolt's price. With Jolt, there are no surprise fees.
Do I also need to pay for LLM models?
No, Jolt's price is all-inclusive. What you see is what you pay. No surprise fees or costs ever.
Will my requests get stuck in waiting queues or "slow uses"?
Never. Jolt's infrastructure is massively scalable and will not throttle your usage.
Can I buy fewer than 5 seats?
Please contact support@usejolt.ai if you'd like to purchase fewer than 5 seats. We'd love to learn more about your team and use case.
Do the Team and Enterprise plans really come with unlimited usage?
Yes. Although our paid plans have a credit ceiling, they are set as a "fair-use" policy. Non-API and non-autonomous usage will not reach the ceiling.
Which IDEs and editors does Jolt support?
Jolt supports all IDEs and code editors. Use our VSCode extension for VSCode, Cursor, and other forks. Our JetBrains plugin supports most of their IDEs. Use our desktop app for all other IDEs, such as XCode, Neovim, and Zed.
What size codebases can I use Jolt on?
Jolt works on all codebases and is used on codebases over 10 million lines. Although Jolt is primarily designed for larger codebases (over 50K lines), teams have also found it extremely helpful on smaller projects. The free trial supports codebases up to roughly 120K lines.
Can I bring my own LLM API key? Can you deploy to my cloud?
Jolt supports using your own LLM API keys, as well as hybrid and custom deployments. Please contact support@usejolt.ai for more information.
Why do I need to connect my git provider?
Jolt's HyperContext relies on a connection to your git provider in order to effectively search, navigate, and understand your codebase.
Do you train on our data or codebase?
Never. We do not train on your code or any other data. The 3rd party LLM providers we use do not train on anything we send them.
What can I do with the Jolt API?
The Jolt API generates PRs from text and image prompt inputs. Teams have connected it to their Project Management tools like Linear or Jira and error reporting tools like Sentry. Other teams have integrated our API into CI/CD, like GitHub Actions.

Which LLMs does Jolt use?
Jolt uses a combination of Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI models across its pipelines. Unlike other tools, Jolt determines the best model to use at every step, so you never get lost in a tedious model picker. We've done the homework for you.
